Wow, it's not quite that bad here in Korea. People notice you if you walk into a room for sure, and people really turn and look if the foreigner is speaking in Korean. :P
Never had someone ask for a picture, though. I have had some elementary students walk up and ask me simple questions in English and you sometimes have the random person walk by who goes "hi!" and continues walking. lol
