Going out of town?

Well, not much has been going on the past few days. I guess we're all just busy with life in general. Here's something you can be thinking about though. I'm not sure how it'll work out. In December of last year, we were invited on a little trip to another town so that Brant could be a judge for an English competition. The competition was for doctors and nurses at this smaller town's hospital. We agreed and went. All expenses were paid for including one or two nights stay (can't remember how many nights!). So, we went and did that, and it was just hard on us for a few reasons. I didn't think to bring things for Eden to do, and she and I were holed up in a small hotel room for hours with very little to keep us occupied. We didn't get good sleep during the trip. And worst of all was that when Brant went to do the judging, he was stuck in a room with a couple of chain smokers for hours on end! And those were head doctors too!! As a result of that, Brant got very sick with bronchitis after that and had to visit the hospital more than once. He was ill for quite a while.

But he did a good job judging, and they liked it so much that we came, and so can you guess what? They asked us back of course! Well, with a new baby, there's no way we're going to try that one again, so Brant answered "no" this time and told them that it would be too hard on us with a new baby, and he also wouldn't want to leave me alone with the girls for a few days so he could go by himself. But the pressure is being put on a bit, and they're willing to compromise to make it work out, and so they have arranged it so that he can go back and forth in one day instead of staying overnight. We're willing for him to go since it'll only be one day, but we're mainly concerned about the room full of smokers. So, Brant needs to talk to his boss who's working this all out and see if there's somehow that problem can be worked out. We sure DON'T want him to have to sit in a "smokestack" room again like last year! Oh how I hate smoking! It might be easy to tell a person not to smoke around you in the USA, but it's a different story here where nearly every man smokes or has smoked at some time in his life, and what makes it even more difficult that these men are prominent doctors in their town.
